are the sounds of the "carry us beyond", founded
in the rhythms of Africa, building on the jazz and soul
of the Americas, and spinning off into the Hip Hop and the
electronic music of the modern world.
Ever since the summer of '99, DJ Benja has been bringing
you a mix of some of the heaviest riddims to come out of
Jamaica every other Friday afternoon on WHPK. His sets have
a different focus each time, covering a variety of artists,
bands, producers, and studios from the mid-60s to the early
